Sincerely, Vee: Cassandra Lokko
For months, I had been hearing so much about Cassandra Lokko's wedding footage, which quickly went viral. I kept telling myself I would watch it especially after hearing a little background history on Cassandra but to be honest, it kept slipping my mind. When I heard she had landed in Ghana, I was super excited because at the time I was filming episodes of the Sincerely, Vee Show and looked forward to featuring her on it. Due to a conflict in our schedules, we weren't able to film but thanks to Bianca Buckman, she made the connection between Cassandra and I, and I was able to get this interview for all my readers.
Cassandra Lokko is a Youtuber from Jamaica based in London, who married her Ghanaian prince. The couple have over 688,000 views and thousands of comments under their wedding video, which trust me when I say, you better have a tissue by you when watching it because you will definitely be teary-eyed. The couple's youtube channel #Lokkedin will inspire you whether you're married, dating or even single.
Another video you will be touched by is a recent upload from Cassandra talking about the passing of her mom. Her strength is truly admirable.
Get to know Cassandra in my exclusive interview with the motivational beauty taking Youtube by storm and right after check out Mrs. Lokko's wedding footage and the emotional footage of Cassandra opening up about the passing of her dear mother.
1. Who is Cassandra?
I don't know lol (I'm joking) Cassandra is a influencer of greatness she is a Creative in every sense of the word! Everyday I'm finding out more about myself unlocking different levels and seeing deeper layers and I'm just enjoying the process!
2. How did you and your hubby, Karl, meet?
We met in Church! We became best friends and our friendship blossomed into love.
3. How has the relationship between yourself and your hubby helped your growth as a woman?
In so many ways I believed I had it somewhat together before getting into a relationship with my husband, but it just really highlighted my flaws put my weaknesses on blast. However, it really shed light on my strengths to my husband is very inspiring so it encouraged me to use my gifts to inspire too.
4. You lost your mom after her battle with cancer. What are some of the best memories you had with your mom?
Younger memories probably her being the life and soul of every party always lighting up a room with her smile (that I have so happily inherited). Later memories her giving her life to Christ just before she died, just holding her hand watching movies and just getting to spend a lot of time with her as she lived with me before she passed. Just really all the wisdom she shared with me over the years that I didn't always understand but as I'm getting older I will go to do something and just hear one of her wisdom nuggets. Precious moments!
5. You've opened up about spiraling into a deep depression after losing your mom. How did your daily life change?
I stopped cooking which I loved. It took everything to get up and get out. Life just felt like it was in slow motion. How can I liken it, it was as if I was literally pushing against a strong wind or a strong tide.
6. Although you were all smiles during your wedding ceremony, at that moment you were easing your way out of depression. Were you able to genuinely soak in the happiness on your special day?
In every way that was one of the best days of my life. I literally prayed the night before. We had some great advice from some dear friends of ours and they told us to enjoy the moment, take it in and just enjoy so I asked God to help me do just that. Karl called me the night before and said no matter what happens we must just enjoy. So every moment was literally like a fairy tale for me and at no point was I stressed. I had an amazing wedding planner Magali (Lajetfete), she made sure even during the planning sometimes I just couldn't come because I was planning a funeral too she would take charge and just get things done. So yes I soaked in all the happiness lol.
7. Did you seek professional help while overcoming depression?
No, I prayed a lot and was prayed for a lot.
8. How are you inspired? What keeps you motivated?
Hmmm, I'm inspired by people who have overcame any trial or tribulation. I'm inspired by people who have decided, 'No, I just don't want to live that old narrative anymore so I'm changing it!' When I see that something I've said or done has impacted someone's life, stopped them from making a detrimental decision or propelled them to do something great.
9. Right now, in this moment, describe Cassandra in one-word.
Grateful
